Antidepressants
are
habit
forming:
In medical studies, treatment of depression with antidepressants achieves
relief
of
depression
symptoms
better
than
a

in
less
than
1 in 10
people suffering with
depression (See the "effectiveness links to the right). Yet most
patients suffering with
depression
end up taking these
depression drugs
for years. So what is
happening here?
When serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine
neurotransmitter levels are not high enough in the
brain depression, anxiety, attention deficit, ADD,
ADHD, and many other illnesses develop. The
antidepressants known as reuptake
inhibitors
do nothing to increase the number of serotonin and dopamine
neurotransmitter molecules in the brain. They work
by moving neurotransmitter
molecules from one place to another in the brain. In
process of moving neurotransmitter molecules from
one place to another antidepressants set up conditions
that deplete (burn out) the serotonin, dopamine, and
norepinephrine making the cause of the problem worse
(low of the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine,
and/or norepinephrine).
Taking antidepressants without properly
balanced nutritional support causes the total number
of neurotransmitter molecules in the brain levels drop lower and
lower leading habituation (these drugs are habit forming). Once
habituated when people try and stop the
antidepressants, they feel worse due to the
neurotransmitter levels in the synapses of the brain
dropping lower than before treatment. At this point
the patient taking antidepressants either can’t stop the drug or doesn’t
want to stop the drug because they don't like way
they feel when they stop the antidepressants. The only way to increase
serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine neurotransmitter levels in the brain is through
administration of properly balanced nutrients
5-HTP, tyrosine, levodopa, and cysteine with
neurotransmitter testing as indicated. Under the
guidance of a properly trained licensed health care
provider this technique is highly effective at
increasing neurotransmitter levels in the brain and
getting patients to the point they can stop their
antidepressant without feeling worse and without
relapse of symptoms in treating
people suffering from
disease.

properly

of
5-HTP,
tyrosine,

The
second
step
is
to
taper
the
patients
off
the
antidepressants.
In most cases when the patient desires to
stop the drug symptoms of disease are not fully
under control. Prior to tapering the the
antidepressants nutrients need to be adjusted with
neurotransmitter testing as indicated to the point
of complete control of symptoms. Once symptoms are under control
taper of antidepressants can start at which point
the nutrients should be adjusted further if symptoms return
during the taper.
The
seemingly innocuous antidepressants make the
real cause of suffering in disease worse, low levels
of
serotonin,
dopamine
and/or
norepinephrine.
In the process
these
drugs
become
habit
forming.
Then
when
people
try
to
stop
the
antidepressants
they feel worse because the drug has burned out
(depleted)
the
neurotransmitters
in
their
brain.
When
enough serotonin, dopamine,
and/or
norepinephrine neurotransmitter
molecules become burned out
by
antidepressants the symptoms of disease gets
worse (known as "clinical worsening").
When
enough serotonin, dopamine,
and/or
norepinephrine neurotransmitter
molecules become burned out
by
antidepressants
the
risk
of suicide
develops
(known
as "suicidality").
