L-dopa
In
Parkinson's
Disease
treatment
serotonin
and dopamine
nutrients
need to be
in balance.
The three
processes
involved are
synthesis,
uptake, and
metabolism.
-
SYNTHESIS,
of concern in
Parkinson's
Disease is the
fact that
dopamine and
serotonin are
synthesized by
the same enzyme.
In Parkinson's
Disease
treatment loading
the system with
levodopa, while
failing to
provide 5-HTP,
causes
decreased serotonin
synthesis as the
L-dopa crowds
out the
serotonin
nutrients on the
enzyme.
-
UPTAKE,
of concern in
Parkinson's
Disease
treatment is
that nutrients need
to undergo
uptake in order
for synthesis
into serotonin
and dopamine. In
Parkinson's
Disease
treatment loading
the system with
only L-dopa
decreases
5-HTP
uptake.
depleting
serotonin.
-
METABOLISM,
of concern in
Parkinson's
Disease
treatment is
COMT and MAO
enzyme systems
which metabolize
serotonin and
dopamine.
In Parkinson's
Disease
administration
of L-dopa
increases the
activity levels
of these enzymes resulting
in higher
metabolism of serotonin
and
serotonin
depletion.
PARKINSON'S DISEASE:
TACHYPHYLAXIS
Tachyphylaxis
essentially means,
"the drug quit
working". For years
in the treatment of
Parkinson's Disease,
it has been known
that the use of
L-dopa leads to
Tachyphylaxis of the
L-dopa. In
the case of
Parkinson's Disease,
tachyphylaxis is
caused primarily by
depletion of
serotonin. When
serotonin levels
drop too low, the
effects of L-dopa
will not be observed.
In Parkinson's
Disease treatment proper amounts of
5-HTP must be
provided with L-dopa
to prevent
tachyphylaxis.
PARKINSON'S DISEASE:
SEROTONIN DEPLETION
IN TREATMENT
Using improperly
balanced L-dopa in
the treatment of
Parkinson's Disease
depletes serotonin. Depression is
common in
Parkinson's Disease treatment.
The literature is
very specific that
depression in
Parkinson's Disease
treatment is a
serotonin specific
depression that
responds best to
the most serotonin specific
drugs. Using
properly balanced 5-HTP with
L-dopa
prevents depletion
of serotonin. Other
commonly observed
problems in
Parkinson's Disease
treatment caused by
serotonin depletion are:
-
Psychotic
episodes,
including
delusions
-
Hallucinations
and paranoid
ideation
-
Confusion
-
Somnolence
-
Dream
abnormalities,
including
nightmares
-
Decreased mental
acuity
-
Anxiety
-
Memory
impairment
-
Disorientation
-
Fatigue
-
Nervousness
-
Increased libido
-
Insomnia
-
Bizarre
breathing
patterns

It
is no secret
NeuroResearch
Clinics uses
the
nutrients
5-HTP,
tyrosine,
levodopa, and
cysteine
with
neurotransmitter testing as
indicated to
treat
Attention
Deficit (ADD
ADHD)
patients in
order to
achieve the
results that
are
documented
by our
doctors,
Proper use
of these
simple
nutrients in
medical
treatment is
not simple.
From time to
time a
patient will
say, "Why do
I want to
take that, I
can go to a
health food
store and
buy it?"
People off
the street
buying in a
health food
store is
like going
to an art
store and
buying a
bunch of oil
paints then
going home
and
expecting to
paint like a
mater artist
even though
there was no
previous
painting
experience.
Due to their
unique
chemical
properties
nutrients
have
tremendous
potential.
The
potential is
only fully
realized in
the hands of
the fully
trained
professional
using
neurotransmitter testing.
Treatment is
not just giving a nutrient pill, it is the whole medical
approach
doctors are
trained in
to manage
the disease
properly and
make sure
that that
the
treatment
plan is on
track to get
symptoms
under
control |
