Insomnia: There are numerous reasons why people do not sleep normally. Medicine has attempted to divide into a number of categories, but from a practical stand point there are two main categories of insomnia: |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Temporary
Insomnia
|
|
The listing of causes relating to why a patient may experience temporary insomnia very well might be be infinitely long. Temporary insomnia is a sleep disturbance caused by an external factor that tends to self limiting. Examples of things that may induce temporary insomnia include: |
|
|
| -Excessive worry about current events in your life. |
|
|
|
| -Attempting to sleep outside of your normal sleep environment. |
|
| -Unusual noise from relatives visiting. |
|
| -Anything that disrupts the normal sleep pattern temporarily and resolves in a few days or weeks. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Chronic
Insomnia |
|
Chronic insomnia is sleep disturbance that persists for month or years. Chronic insomnia is broken down into two categories: |
| Chronic insomnia |
|
caused by an underlying disease such as insomnia seen with depression, chronic disease such as cancer, or kidney disease. There is a lengthy list of diseases associated with chronic insomnia. |
|
|
|
Chronic insomnia |
|
not associated with an underlying disease. This type of insomnia can only be diagnosed after a through medical work up has been preformed which rules out other causes of insomnia. |

OPTIMAL
TREATMENT OF
INSOMNIA |
|
For
temporary
insomnia the
primary
treatment
approach is
to deal with
the cause.
If a patient
has just had
surgery and
the pain is
keeping him
or her awake
the doctor
needs to
prescribe
adequate
pain
control,
usually in
the form of
pill pills.
If the
sleeping
environment
has changed
causing
trouble
sleeping
steps need
to be taken
to
compensate
for this. If
noise is a
problem ear
plugs may be
the answer.
|
|
Dealing with
chronic
insomnia, no
matter what
the cause
needs to
have the
neurotransmitters
optimized.
Chronic
disease
causes
chronic
stress which
in turn
causes
increased
excretion of
neurotransmitters
leading to
depletion of
neurotransmitters.
Using
terminal
cancer as a
model the
proper
treatment
approach
looks like
this. The
patient with
terminal
cancer is
under a
tremendous
amount of
stress. This
stress
causes
increased
excretion of
neurotransmitters
which in
turn leads
to depletion
of
neurotransmitters.
In the
terminal
cancer
patients it
is not
uncommon to
see them
taking 4 to
6 medication
that work
with
neurotransmitters
in an
attempt to
get sleep,
depression
and a host
of other
problems
under
control. The
problem is
that these
pills do
nothing to
increase and
restore the
neurotransmitter
levels in
brain that
are cause
the insomnia
and
depression.
These drugs
are actually
depleting
the
neurotransmitters
of the brain
making the
cause of the
problem
worse. Only
be giving
the body
proper
levels of
the balanced
nutrients
needed to
build
neurotransmitters
can the
neurotransmitter
levels be
restored.
The symptom
is insomnia
the cause is
neurotransmitter
levels not
high enough
for the
patient to
have normal
sleep. The
best
approach is
to treat the
cause and
not the
symptom in
this case
giving
sleeping
pills only
treats the
symptoms,
giving
proper
levels of
balanced
nutrients
treats the
cause. |

The NeuroResearch Clinics Insomnia Overview
It
is no secret NeuroResearch Clinics uses the nutrients 5-HTP, tyrosine, levodopa, and cysteine to treat medical patients
in order to get the results
documented by our doctors, Proper
use these simple
ingredients in medical treatment is not simple.
From time to time a patient will
say, "Why do I want to take that, I
can go to a health food store and
buy it?" People off the street
buying in a health food store is like going to an art
store and buying a bunch of oil
paints then going home and expecting
to paint like a mater artist even
though there was no previous
painting experience. Having been in
medicine since 1972 I can firmly
state that use of 5-HTP, tyrosine,
levodopa, and cysteine, in medical
clinics, with urinary
organic cation transporter neurotransmitter optimization is some of
the most sophisticated medical
treatment in medicine.
These nutrients have tremendous
potential due to their chemical
properties. The potential is only
fully realized in the hands of the
trained professional. Treatment is
not just giving a nutrient pill, it is the whole medical approach
doctors are trained in to manage the
disease properly and make sure that
that the whole treatment plan is on
track to get symptoms under control. |
